The World Sikh Organization Says Racist Letters To Indo-Canadian Businesses Unacceptable
The World Sikh Organization of Canada expresses concern over recent racist emails sent to numerous Indo-Canadian businesses in Chilliwack, which include two Indian restaurants and one taxi business.
The emails read in part, “Chilliwack is not a place for you” and that Chillliwack doesn’t “need the folk from India and Surrey to pollute this city.” In addition, restaurant owner Sumit Gulati’s home has twice been the target of vandalism in recent months.
After complaints from the owners of the restaurants that police was doing little to investigate the matter – the Chilliwack RCMP finally announced that they are investigating the incidents as hate crime.
