Olga Scherbina was hired as a Project Coordinator for the Maple Bamboo Initiative — a MHHS pilot project to increase immigrant civic involvement.
In baseball, the maple bamboo bat is considered one of the best training bats, having a tensile strength greater than steel, performing well in hot and cold weather. The title refers to the coming together of Canadian public processes and immigrants most of which recently have been from Asia, home of the bamboo. Like the maple bamboo bat, newcomers participating fully in Canadian public processes strengthen Canada’s multicultural society.
