Vancouver Mayor Speaks About Diversity
The City of Vancouver was named one of Canada’s Top 100 Employers by Mediacorp Canada Ltd in 2010. Tracy Tjaden of the Globe and Mail spoke with Kristina Leung, editor of Canada’s Top 100 employers who praised city policies with respect to diversity and equal opportunity.
“They have a really good basic structure in place,” says Ms. Leung. “Advisory committees work with city council and communicate for these individual groups,” including the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender community.
Additionally, Gregor Robertson, the mayor of Vancouver, was interviewed where he said that “Vancouver’s diversity doesn’t just provide it with an identity and reputation for being welcoming – it’s also the city’s ticket to future prosperity.”
