Are We Past White Supremacy?
February is a Black History month. However, as Charlie Smith, said in his super-great self-reflective video, there are some people who might say: “Why there is no WHITE PEOPLE MONTH? Right? Wrong!!! Being born as visible minority (BLACK) means that you were born in disadvantaged circumstances as visible minority second generation still experience earning / employment disparities in comparison with their white counterparts which is a proof that systemic discrimination still exist in our Canada. So, the problems are still there for those black Canadians who were born in Canada, what about those who came as refugees and immigrants? Watch Charlie’s video who talks about white privilege in our modern past(or not?)-colonial world. He reflects on the US experience but it is very much translates into Canadian context. The best 7.36 minutes I spent on utube video so far.
