This report explores different approaches to settlement sector training in other jurisdictions and presents the opinions of key informants with expertise in the field. It highlights findings extrapolated from related literature and it presents key concepts and a series of recommendations to improve training outcomes. The report concludes by presenting a framework to build a coordinated, competency-based in-service training and professional development system in British Columbia. It then calls on the BCSAP agreement holders, as well as collaborating associations, to work together to support the implementation of this system so that settlement service delivery will be enhanced throughout British Columbia.
