Women have much to offer mining world Workforce out of balance BC 2035
The Vancouver Sun’s BC 2035 series highlights the vital role human resources play in making our province’s resource sector thrive. Unfortunately, when it comes to mining, a disproportionately high number of men are employed over women. According to a recent Mining Association of B.C. report, only 16 per cent of mining or mineral exploration workers in the province are female. This is not dissimilar to Goldcorp’s experience globally. We, as an industry, need to do better to realize our workforce’s full potential – recognizing a golden untapped resource: women.
