Ethnic outreach, really?
Three days ago, MACLEANS published a 4,200-word article titled “The inside story of Jason Kenney’s campaign to win over ethnic votes. The secret to the success of Canada’s immigration minister”. Besides a VERY long content and some debating “facts” the article features four images of Jason Kenney, three close-up portraits and one where Minister Kenney is in the company of our Prime Minister and two Muslim religious leaders in mosque. Both government officials are thoughtfully looking up the celling.
I found it interesting that there is no one picture in the article portraying our Minister of Citizenship and Immigration where he smiles or looks happy. Also, if the idea of the article was to showcase his established reputation and connections with ethnic communities then I find it surprising that most of the pictures are Kenney himself and not with his “formidable network he’s built at the heart of ethnic communities”… Comments after the article offer a big entertainment, as usual. Still can’t believe that we ignore how much racism remarks people are allowed to post online …
